[ Shimakurado ] manufactures copper products in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture.

The first generation, Itami Shimakura (b. 1935), entered Gyokusendo, a long-established Tsubame-tsuiki copperware shop with a history of 200 years, in 1952. After 15 years of training, he opened his own business.

Second-generation Masayuki Shimakura (born in 1969) (certified as a traditional craftsman in 2002) has been working for his father since 1989 and continues to this day.

As the second generation, we are looking for ways to create products that are more in line with modern life by making the most of the traditional techniques. He would like to continue to create works full of individuality.

"Hammered Bronze Ware" is a gift from the Japanese royal family for celebrations. It is also an intangible cultural property recognized by the Japanese state. It is completely hand-hammered and gradually formed from a piece of copper. It is a top-level artwork with very difficult construction methods.

On average, one work takes one month to produce.
